Known as the “Land of Waterfalls”, Brevard and Transylvania County is a haven for outdoor activity. Public lands cover more than half of the county and feature 250 waterfalls, 1,000 miles of trails across 110,000 acres of public lands, 421 miles of fishable trout streams, 350 miles of single track, the headwaters of the world’s third-oldest river, and the largest rock monolith east of the Mississippi. Outdoor enthusiasts can find almost any desired activity at their fingertips – hiking, rock climbing, mountain and road biking, paddling, fly fishing, horseback riding, and more. We host many mountain bike, road bike, and running rides/races each year. While our community does not feature any large venues, we offer a variety of facilities for traditional sports, including baseball, softball, soccer, wrestling, basketball, tennis, pickleball, disc golf, and more. Specifically, Transylvania County Activity Center, the Brevard College Campus, and Brevard High School have the facilities and parking to host certain events. Just 16 miles from Asheville Regional Airport, Transylvania County has three large hotels (plus inns, cabins, and vacation rentals), an array of restaurants, five breweries, a vibrant downtown Brevard, family-friendly activities, and much more to provide memorable experiences to visitors.
